Two women molested by a mob of 70 men. Just outside a 5 star hotel in Mumbai. One of the women was stripped too. Such a shameful incident. Imagine the trauma of those two women. By 70 men that too. Oh God! What do we call these people? Animals? No, even animals dont behave like this. It seems this mob was led by two men. Led??? Was not even one of those men in a proper state of mind? Does a man lose all his senses when drunk? Suppose one of the women was his relative, would his loss of sense still make him do all those filthy acts on those women?

Few questions on my mind-

1)Considering that this incident occured just outside the hotel, where were the security personnel employed by the hotel?

2) Where are the police? Arent they supposed to patrol on new years eve nights?

3) This incident was captured by few newspaper journalist on camera. Instead of capturing this on camera, why could they not use their influence and alert the police? And how come these pictures are being broadcasted on media?

4) Last year a foreigner was the victim of a similar incident on new years eve. Keeping that in mind, wont the police exercise extra caution?

5) Lastly, how will these two women ever get past this incident? will they ever be able to erase this from their memory?

The usual arguments that women are supposed to dress adequately and that would have lowered the probablity of the happening of such an incident is total nonsense. barbarians like this will behave in this manner given any situation.

answer to your question 3- it were the photographers from Hindustan times who alerted the police.

the bigger question is why was no one arrested on the spot? why did thepolice not round up the bystanders?

the police were arrested. only, they happened to be traffic cop, and i guess they can't do much. they did do what they could.

you missed out on the statement by the commissioner. shame on him, mor than anything else.

this is not the only incident this new year - quite a few i have been hearing about. its sad. read tjc george's article in the new indian express today.

Anon- The mob prbly out numbered the police.

da rodent-I know. Whr do they find ppl like this??

dharmabum-yup the year has dfntly started out with some sad incidents. But the saddest part is ppl's reaction to this incident. the women shld not have ventured out it seems. wat utter nonsense. If you want women to stay at home all day- why the hell don you migrate to some muslim country. wat if they're out in the night. don men go out in the night? how does that become a reason for you to feel them up? are you moral guardians or wat?

wow! knew i could count on you for compliments... If u'll do a wiki search.... (its easy for u...coz its ur homepage....)u'll notice that The Cynics (Greek) were an influential group of philosophers from the ancient school of Cynicism. Their philosophy was that the purpose of life was to live a life of Virtue in agreement with Nature.

Anon- Influence doesnt necessarily mean good my dear. Anyway if you look at it as a compliment, I shall call you that henceforth!
